Momma has been bad

Real bad.

I'm sorry for the lack of 'legs

Tonight, my lethargic ass will try to make it out tonight.
Got some stuff going on, yeah.

The Boxing Lesson is playing inside.
Good enough to go, even.

Beauty Bar
Flashlight Party.. heeeeeyyyyyy.
[please note I did not say "flesh"light, you pervs]
Markus with a K, Orlando Mas, and Jordan Kline are bringing it to you, in a mighty fine way.

I'm stoked to catch melody murder and you know how ill Zeale is.
He's fresh off the plane from touring overseas with DJ Chicken George.

Hit this one up for a dance party.

And if you aren't danced out, fucking head on over to Barcelona and bring down the house with the Irresponsible Voltron gang.

"We eat paper planes and shit out space shuttles"

If you think you know how to party and get down, think again,
and go along for a ride with these cupcake filled party monsters.

Just make sure you can hang for at LEAST 24 hrs at a time.
These fellas don't play.

Ok, that's all I can come up with for tonight.

ps How was the mohawks show last night with Girl In A Coma and peligrosa allstars? I wanted to check that shit out but man, adulthood brings me down some days.

Jeff Buckley's new bio is out.

And Filter Mag has the first chapter for preview.

Copy the link for the pdf file to read.

Regardless, I'd suggest picking up a copy.
I've always wanted to know what the people closest to him knew about the inner workings of this amazing artist.

And by amazing, I mean FUCKING AMAZING! :)

get it from amazon here
OR get your lazy ass and support your local bookstores!!!
Do that rather than amazon.

Seriously. This is teh sechs.

Mama, I'm Swollen

Check out Cursive's new single "I Couldn't Love You Anymore" here

I know I don't need to explain my undying love for Tim Kasher and co, so I'll just say this.

Their new album, Mama, I'm Swollen will be released on March 10th.
I highly suggest you pick it up the second of release.

And if you are still upset because they aren't the same post punk band they once were aka Domestica days........GROW THE FUCK UP.
They did. It's about time you join in with the rest of the population. :)

love you, mean it!!!

Also, don't forget to catch their sxsw show Friday March 20th at Radio Room [old Bourbon Rocks].

I love the loyalty firm

And because of that, I have come to love the bands with The Loyalty Firm

Of course, you've heard me RAVE about The Boxing Lesson.
Loooove love love, this psych rock, pot brownie, ridiculously outerspacey band.

And they spent a little time at the Daytrotter space up in IL
Ta-da! It has now been released!!

Listen/download here

The band recorded the set back in Dec in 1 degree weather and even survived Jaylinn's moog freezing up and not working the whole time. She grabbed an old Juno in the studios corner and the band just went for it.

The very live set includes Dark Side of the Moog, Wild Streaks & Windy Days, Muerta & Room 17, which is a new and unreleased track.

"It's a buzzing blend of frustration and acceptance and it's a warning to the moonlight that tonight's the night that it might die and it will see the three faces of The Boxing Lesson standing over it as it closes its eyes for the last time, staring back with six eyes of steel and more darkness than the night?s ever witnessed." Sean, Daytrotter

The band has a few shows coming up:
Feb 21 "Opolis" Norman,OK
Feb 26 - Stubbs - Austin,TX
Mar 18-22 " SXSW Fun

If you haven't heard the bands latest LP Wild Streaks & Windy Days, then quit sitting on the sidelines and saddle up for an epic and spacey ride.

Dark Side of the Moog by The Boxing Lesson

And The Steps

The just put out a new video for their single "Dagger"

The Steps Music Video: Dagger

Dagger is another great song off the self titled debut recorded by Chris "Frenchie" Smith (Dandy Warhols, Explosions in the Sky, Jet). They have put this album out in Japan on Kurofune and in the UK on Young & Lost Club and now theyre releasing this in the USA on the new minted label Playing In Traffic. The Steps put on a great live show (which many witnessed at ACL fest last year) and have been winning people over one at a time and are hitting the road in support of their self titled full-length debut.

tour dates:
02.10: Charlottesville, VA; Bal Rio
02.12: Charlotte, NC: Milestone
02.18: Austin, TX: Stubbs *
02.19: College Station, TX: Fitzwilly's *
03.05: Austin, TX: Pangea w/Fastball
03.19: Austin, TX: SXSW
05.02: Austin, TX: Pecan Street Festival w/The Boxing Lesson, Melo, and more

*w/ Jonathan Tyler & The Northern Lights

Hopefully, I'll get to putting up singles from these two fabulous local bands.
But spread the word, and if you are around, show up to shake down at their shows!!

the days of our austin

First off:

Treasure Fingers went off. The crowd was definitely unexpected, but at the same time, not shocking.
Ravers and hipsters UNITE!! Bwuahahah.

Ran into people I haven't seen since '02. Crazy but good times.

My photos are here

Also finally met The Peen Scene. After being at the same crowded events, had a couple minutes to chat! :)
Here are their event photos as well.

I stayed in Saturday night because I was on Aunt duty with my 7 month old baby, and hangovers + babies = no bueno.

But I heard shows went off left and right.

Plush with TMC- DJ Digg's last night
Club Deville- heard the cast of Office Space were hanging out there.
I <3 Ron Livingston
Emos- heard the show went off, check out Peen Scene's flickr for the proof
B&T- heard a loving patron saying he wanted to have 10,000 of Computer Club's babies.
I'm taking that as it was a good throw down.

Sunday- spent the evening at Alamo with the girls instead of watching the overrated musical critic show aka the grammys.

The movie was overrated as well, but the wine and snide comments during the film, about the film made it gold rated.

Lucky for me, I read Stereogum and they have all the clips I wanted to see on their blog

Preggo MIA is still the shit.
U2 has brought stupid music again.
Radiohead is still fucking magnificent!
I'm over coldplay and chris martin's whiney ass.
Same goes with Kanye.
And a fucking hell yeah fort Allison Krauss and Robert Plant for winning beset album.
"Raising Sand" was an amazing album and the fact that Zoey D intro'd them.

Seeing them at ACL made my top 3 live performance of the year 2008.
[Other 2 being radiohead and ray lamontagne...if you want to argue take it to your mother because I don't give a shit! :) ]
Although Robert didn't give a zepplin scream, they are just so spot on together.

Thanks to sonicitch, a VERY nice lineup for an Emo's /sxsw show has been announced.
Vans presents :
Echo and The Bunnymen, HR from Bad Brains, and Circle Jerks along with Juliette Lewis and the Licks, and Ima Robot.

Holy pajamas! Very very nice.

I'm assuming, cover + long line waiting/ wristband/badge will be needed for this one.
But whatever, it's fucking Echo and The Bunnymen.
I'd pray for "Pepople are Strange" [Lost Boys sdtrk 4lyfe!]

and coming up as well. vinyl entertainment is bringing a nice little shin dig.
The 2nd Installment of "The River Flow East" presents:

RSVP for VIP entry at Do512

Not really sure what the line up for this weekend is.
Because my ass will be in Seattle!!!!

Woot! Heading up the the PacNW for some sightseeing, sushi eating, coldness climate, FUN!

So check out your regular blog heros for those updates.
If something is major, i'll post it, but it needs to be major major.
Not your mom's house party. kthx.

Oh yeah, outwithme is back in action. show him some love.

Love you lots, kiddos

wave of updates

First off, I'd like to say how proud I am that the following new story has been such a bit hit in the media. As if it were actually newsworthy.

Christian Bale can be an asshole.

Don't click the link. You know what is there. Thanks Fox news for the update. [and no, it's not just fox reporting it]

In real music news

Langerado Festival that is held in Miami has been cancelled.
Due to low sales. If it wasn't held in the same month as SXSW, I'd take my little happy ass over there. The line up was fairly good, but I would've gone for Tricky alone.
I'm still hoping for an appearance at SXSW but he's not on the list....yet!

But in good festival news:
Bonnaroo lineup was announced early this morning

Please, if you go, make some time to catch Kaki King's set.
The woman is amazing.

And in the world of twitter.
Follow your favorite band, and are work out some contracts with industry people on twitter.
Check out this list, thanks to the daily swarm, of the world of music on twitter.

I found one of my FAVORITE artist on there: Esthero
Seriously one of the most talented vocalist i've heard.
She needs to do some shows in the SOUTH, besides ATL.

Heartless Bastards
new album came out.
Go grab a copy.

This weekend.... holy crap, batman...hit this up.

Make sure to RSVP yo!!
and wish Prince Klassen a happy birthday with a shot of sorts!! :)

Then Saturday, get your sailboat rockin shoes on for the show at Emos.

And on Do512, click on "I Like it" to win a pair of tickets to the show.

The Killers tonight. They are ghey. So I'd poop on that show before going to it.

And that is how i'm ending this sideshow.
