Coachella Lineup 2009

The official release has come out.

I want to cream my pants and cry at the same time

Only because I'll be in Kentucky the next weekend, so that diminishes my chances to go.
I hate my life sometimes.

But for those with nothing to do. Mira Mira

I'm a little turned off by The Killers headlining Saturday. They are beyond overrated and Brandon Flowers is in the same category for me as Kanye West [the arrogantly suckage].

BUT everything else, ahhhhh.

I have never been before either, and although i hear the alcohol part is kind of lame [designated drinking spot] whatever. This shit is totally worth it!! Besides fuck alcohol. There's plenty of other mind altering stuff to divulge in, responsibly of course.

So you go, and make me jealous, but fucking call me during Paul McCartney's, Morrissey, N.A.S.A., Henry Rollins, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine's, and The Vivian Girl's sets. kthx.

Tomorrow night!

Now that the ice has melted away and our inevitable cabin fever set in just from spending 1 night at home, it's time to move those muscles.

Tomorrow night [01.29.09] @ The Parish
A Drink on Sailor Jerry
We will be pushing the lovely and warming Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum on you for free!!!

From 10pm-11pm come by and get a free cocktail from your local sailor jerry girls.

Also, the line up for the show at the parish is amazing.

Per Do512
Local acts Harlem and Wild Light
And Tapes N Tapes will be headlining promoting their new album, Walk It Off.
Which I do suggest you pick up a copy.

So come out, dig on some good tunes and drink free sailor jerry spiced rum.

What else could you want for a Thursday night???

oh em gee *puke*

I really try to be fair with most music that comes my way.
I really do, but there are things that you should NEVER do.

Scarlett Johansson has done 2 of those.

NEVER cover Tom Waits. Don't do it. it will never live up to one of the most original artist out there. Please don't.
And yes, I heard that album. And I'm pretty sure it's the reason why god is making us go through this recession. Yes, I'm blaming our country's downfall on her Tom Waits cover album, because it WAS THAT BAD!

and numero DOS
NEVER cover a Jeff Buckley track unless you can blow his out of the water [which 99.913641% of the population cannot].

Link to proof.

I don't care if it's for your cheesy romantic comedy involving up to date pop culture.
You've crossed the line, Scarlett. [btw- I still loathe you for getting Ryan Reynolds off the market. sly cunt you.]

As much as I want to adore Scarlett for her mediocre acting and very hot seductive self, I cannot stand for this.

It's turning one of the most powerful ballads, full of passion, despair, and the most vulnerable voice I have come across,  into cheesy elevator music.
Not saying she can't sing, but please, please stop covering songs out of your realm.

You know what. Fuck it. SHE CAN'T SING.

Lonely People

Thank you Jill.

She linked me to a Fader article about B.o.B.

It also has a track of his called "Lonely People" where he samples The Beatles "Eleanor Rigby"

This track is definitely the dope shit, so check it out here.
Along with the article on the man himself.

Also note that he will be in Austin for SXSW. This will be one of those, "you need to be there" shows.
So keep an eye out.

Sad day for me

Not really but I just found out one artist that I'm completely enamored with, just got engaged.
*le sigh*

Tim Kasher of Cursive.

It all started with Art is Hard.
The desperation in his voice caught me off guard, and I've been following Cursive ever since.
And then of course, the beard. God, I love beards.

I want to say I've seen them live more than once, but I don't believe that I have.

BUT I will get my chance for SXSW, and you better believe my ass will be there.

Brooklyn Vegan has the review of their set along with setlist/pics @ Union Hall
check it out here

So congrats to Tim and the Mrs-to-be.
I will cry silently for a couple minutes.

And then continue with my day. :)

Oh, silly pipe dreams with musicians.
It's usually a girls' downfall, that we devour ourselves in.

If you will not be in Texas for SXSW, check out their page for extra tour dates.

I'm excited. and I just cannot hide it.

Monday, January 19, 2009

It's monday and I'm super exhausted.
I got jobs people, and it's definitely intruding in on my nightlife.

BUT I was a trooper and made it out 4 nights with many of hangovers that were destroyed.

Ok, Wednesday, I snuck in for a second for 101x Homegrown series to catch the beginning of The Boxing Lesson's set.

Always amazing. But I had work the next day, so skipped out early.
They hit up San Antonio and Dallas this weekend.
Heard they put on some damn good shows!

Yo Majesty and Floetry.
First off, little bitching session.
I know with Yo, Jwl B had some personal issues so it was just Shunda K. And she went off.
But with Floetry, it was not a well known fact that it would just be 1 of them performing. so it was just Natalie [the floacist], which she rocked the house, but I was really looking forward to Marsha and Natalie. And per the flyer, it didn't mention that Marsha wasn't on the tour.
Misrepresentation. Me no likey.
Especially since I threw down 12 bucks at the door. For half the show I was expecting to see.

Nonetheless, good show. Wished more people were down for the show, but sadly I guess austin just in quite in the know about these mcs. Oh yeah, our lovely DJ Orion will be touring with them as well. Good time.

Hopped over to Beauty Bar for Shunda K's after party show. Where she threw down her solo stuff. good times.

Friday- my ass stayed in to prepare for Saturday's outings.

Beauty Bar- Neiliyo con Car Sterero [wars]
He ended up in his boxers.
Nuff said!

good time. good friends. cheap whiskey [bad idea by the way. upgrade for makers/jameson to prevent almost death].
Danced my ass off. Shot the shit. And made it home.
By the way, hit up the link to get the link to download his mixtape 101.
dance-a-thon like woah.

Sunday, spent the night in bed, nursing said cheap whiskey's treatment.
But fought it off to make it to Mad Classy at Barcelona. TDBZ was on the decks and the place was PACKED!
If you walk by Sunday nights, just let the bass lead you in, because you will hear from the streets. Plus, Barcelona's system has been hella upgraded to handle all of the bass in Dubstep and it's beautiful to my ears.
For serious.

Definitely hit it up one Sunday. Just to experience it. Good times.

And know my week starts all over, just in time to try to fully recover, before I lose it all again.

This week will be calm, for the most part. [i hope]

But thursday, shit is on.

Friday- Bands etc playing out. I will probably be resting this night.

Then Saturday, so much going on.

I'll be here

Then there's Built By Snows CD release

This will definitely be a good show!!

and then this

Then Sunday- Mad Classy. Not sure who's guest spinning this night, but regardless the resident DJs [Sharkweek, Chango, and Justin] have that shit down to a science.

Annnd. i'm out!

Tomorrow night!

Not just Yo Majesty, but Floetry too!!!

You know you have to 'say yes' to them!!! haha.

Can't wait!!

crazy night ahead

DJ Earworm - United State of Pop 2008 (Viva La Pop) - Mashup of Top 25 Billboard Hits

While I could care less about any of the songs, personally, the mash up was done quite nicely.

Loxley is headlining DeVille.
Built By Snow at Beauty Bar [with free lonestar, mind you]
El Paso Hot Buttom, Ume, and Harlem @ Emos

All fantastic
All free.

Do it.

Also, if you wear your dancing shoes, head to Barcelona
209 E 6th
The underground club.

for their new electro monthly
Featuring: Marst, Parson, and Khadaver

Also, the latest releases from SXSW
I'm getting excited.

But also, in a couple months, keep your eye on Austin showlist for non-sxsw parties
