reach me

I just found this.
Thanks to the austin chronicle random horoscopes via gemini's this past weeks.

Jack Kerouac: 30 Cool Tips

I'm still recovering. Have a good amount of bruises [Thanks to the Del the funkee homosapien merch box]
I finally got to see and experience the following artists.
Band of Horses
Iron and Wine
Robert Plant and Alison Krauss
The Swell Season
The Kills
Eli 'Paperboy' Reed & the True Loves
Jenny Lewis [solo]
Band of Heathens
Foo Fighters
and others.

Yes, I caught MGMT, The Black Keys, City and Colour, Starts, Del, and others. But that list consisted of acts I'd never seen before.

Did anyone else notice Adele didn't show?
I wonder why it wasn't announced earlier.

All in all it was a fantastic experience.

Friday. Traci and myself met up with Bukue1 [del's tour mgr] picked up the merch and had them follow us to the park. After a couple hours, finally getting Del right to the stage 20 minutes before he had to go one. eek.
But it happened and it was a damn good show! Plus, being able to watch from the backstage was nice.
We then head to the park and try to meet up with friends, watch some shows, check out the VIP lounge, and so forth.
VIP was great. Once we got a system down, free booze and food is always great.
Again, thanks to Roxwel for that.

End the night leaving before The Mars Volta. I know they are amazing, but a] I've seen them live and b] had to make it down to Mohawks for the rolling stone afterparty. Get in and finally catch austin locals, Belaire and Voxtrot. Good stuff. Then catch the cool kids, which I was so excited about, since I missed their last Austin stop. Good show. Good times. Got home at a decent hour.
Saturday do all of the above plus after the show we had Sailor Jerry Promos, which went awesomely!! The crowd was large early on in the bars due to ACL, so it totally worked out.
Sunday, gear myself up for one more day. Survive it with a slight drunken emotional fit [trust that it came and went very quickly] and enjoyed the Foo Fighters with my favorite people ever.
The walk back to the car was beyond sucky, mainly due to the fact that I had an entire box of leftover Del merch on top of my head, since it was so crowded. Walking out of the festival with that shit sucked. True story.
But I survived and I guess I got a nice work out.
Whatever. it's over. *sigh of relief*
But what sucked is that I was so drained from the weekend, I opted out of the Cut Copy show last night.
And I was informed that one had never seen the crowd at emo's get down like it did.
But rest was definitely needed and I had to work on Sailor Jerry recaps/photos. Momma needs to get paid.

I believe the only thing we have this week, promo wise is another installment of the Sailor Jerry Dart Tournament.
Handing out the same swag to the winners, so it'd be a good thing to be there.
Plus free rum.

enjoy the free stuff!!!! trust me. take full advantage.

Ok, kids I'm off the pay the bills.

For the ladies

and the gentlemen

I absolutely love this site.

And after this post, it gives me hope in the world again.

and it reads:

"Stop comparing yourself to other girls, no matter how pretty, clever, cool or cashed-up they are.

No one will ever have your unique twist of talents, perspectives or beauty.

You do enough. You have enough. You are enough.

Stop comparing yourself to other girls, no matter how talented, well-dressed, popular or capable they are.

You improve the world more than you can possibly comprehend, just by being true to who you are every day.

outside & be fabulous. Watching who you are, & seeing what
you’re becoming, makes us so proud to know you. The world delights in
your presence. We all love you very much.

Super-love & cupcakes,

Gala <3"

And while it's quoted for the women of the world, the men should feel the same.

Now go and spread the love.

check the masses

Vote here on whether you think Sarah Palin is qualified to serve VP.
And spread the word.

The Juan Maclean went offffff.
Good thing I wore my dancin' shoes.

So it turns out I am going to ACL- VIP style.

WHY, you say?

Because I entered a contest at Roxwel.com
and when asked why I deserve to win tickets.

I said:
Besides the fact that I am willing to endure the Texas Heat for some of my favorite artists, here are a few more reasons....

a] I will not bring a chair to try to blockade other fans from moving closer to the stage. I'm not that jackass.

b] I have no rugrats, so I won't put those non-existent angels in the
danger of the burning heat. So you won't here their non-existent cry.

b] I will not be one of those morons that downs whiskey and tons of
beer, only to waste the experience being knocked out drunk on a blanket
somewhere in the middle of zilker park.

c] I have gone EVERY year since [what year was it before the killers
became egotistical douches?]...well, that year, when they were playing
at 1pm Friday and about 15 people were in front of the stage...Oh, that
was the year of the pixies as well <3

d] Even though I couldn't understand a WORD bob dylan was singing, I stayed. Because its motherf****ing Bob Dylan!

and e] E for EFFORT!!

plus i'm broke. :]

So yes, I will be there and so stoked I get to see David Byrne. DAVID MOTHERFUCKING BYRNE!!

Ok, and as much as I loathe Kate Perry and what she presents herself as, I kind of like this track.
Kate Perry covers MGMT's Electric Feel

At least you know that even though I might HIGHLY dislike an artist, if they surprise me, I'll admit to it.
Like Kanye's Love Lockdown. [check out the remixes as well]
Fucking shit man. I've spent countless minutes discussing my disgust with said artist, then I hear this track.
And FINE! I tapped my toe to it. So what?

I see an avid music appreciator as someone open minded about schmucks like Kanye. He cut out the billshit and it turned out ok. As long as he stops blogging and talking, the world will be a better place. Palin can join in on their quest to silence.

So now it's time to rest up.
Got a big weekend ahead.
Oh and Cut Copy on Monday @ Emos.
Another show- NOT TO MISS!!

The Juan Maclean, L.A.X. , and Ian Orth

$10 for this shit.
Seriously, go. NOW!!

Just kidding. Shit starts at 8pm.
[I know that's early, but blame the sound ordinance and at least you'll get home at a decent hour, unless you stop by side bar/creekside]

StereoLab is Wednesday @ LaZona

ACL this weekend.
I'm not going because my money is no good to them.
First year I'm not going.
But trust you'll see me at the after parties.

Attended this yesterday:

Shit went off.
Went through the slip n slide fully clothed and found it totally worth it.
PLUS- got to catch Ume, Loxsly, and GoldCure.
All awesome.
But can I just say, lead vocals/guitar for Ume, rocks the fuck out. I kinda fell for her, a little bit.

More updates soon.

Promise, snotface.

I fucking thought so!!

And please, reference Jill Sorrels as the person who informed you.
She informed me, and well, it's a trail we are all following, people.

Redman was last night.
Hope shane had a fantastic birthday there, celebrating it.

I didn't make it, because, well, I wanted TO LIVE.
aka needed much sleep.

Monday night was Nasty's with DJ Mel.
Sick, son, sick.

Tuesday, we were out at Soho giving out some amazing Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum.

So by Wednesday, Momma needed to rest.

But know this, it's going down this weekend.

Amos Lee @ LaZona Rosa
Pinback @ Emos
Ani DeFranco @ Stubbs

And Friday is National Talk Like a Pirate Day
We will be at Whiskey Bar at 12 giving out free Rum.
Pirate talk and free rum.
Now you tell me what is better than that????
Not a lot!!

Saturday night we'll be at Creekside hooking people up with SJ at 1.
So get there and boogie down with some rum and cool people.
y/y ?

On a personal note, my life is getting closer to becoming more clear and peaceful.
I look forward to it, but kinda love the craziness of what my life has been for the past couple months.
But the break will be nice.

Choke hits theaters Sept 26th
Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist comes out Oct 3rd

I need to catch up on some movies, and I highly recommend Burn After Reading, the new Cohen Brothers film. HIL-A-RIOUS!!!

There was something I needed to do.
Let's hope I remember, or it not be important.

Portugal the Man just came out with their latest release yesterday

Censored Colors
I suggest you check it out
Buy it here

Ray LaMontagne's new one, Gossip In The Grain is coming out October 14th!!!
I'm so excited. I am in love with his voice.

He's also playing at the Paramont October 25th and you better believe my ass will be there.
Get Tix

I will be attending the Jason Mraz show the day before, Oct 24th, at Stubbs. Love him too.
You have to give credit to someone who has an amazing way with play on words. His lyrics are just really clever, he has an amazing voice, and not too shabby looking.

Ok, enough hyper linking for today.

Because I'm trying not to be obsessive

But in case you didn't know, I'm a HUGE fan of Arrested Development that led to a healthy obsession with Michael Cera.

So I'm trying to spread the word to cause mass obsessiveness, mainly to make it look like I'm not obsessive.

But seriously, this shit is HIL-AR-RI-OUUUUS!

Impossible is the Opposite of Possible

over re action

Listening to: Patti Smith- Poppies

Ok, so for those who don't know, I reside in Austin, TX.
The ONLY livable city in this state.
[I totally stand by this statement, btw, because Houston and Dallas are lacking in sincerity]
Hate all you want, but you know you love austin.

To the point, if you don't live under a rock, you know we have Hurricane Ike headed to our 3rd coast.
Hitting Galveston/Houston/ then moving east.

Those areas have already had mandatory evacuations for those areas days ago.
So now we have an influx of refugees from those areas, which is fine.

But why on EARTH are the people of Austin, TX loading up on survival materials, including bottled water and food.

If you remember, during Katrina, everyone was so sure that we were going to get hit. Mass Madness. Annnd then, we just got some storms.

Ike isn't the size of katrina, while affecting the coast areas, Austin, quit being a fucking whiny ass and stop overacting. Lord.

When has Austin EVER had serious weather [ok, May 2001 was pretty close] ???

PS WTF is up with Palin supporters?
Bitch has no sense of foreign policy and didn't know what the Bush Doctorate was!!!
dumb whore

And then GW Bush calling Iranians assholes????
you sir, fail at life!

Ok, so if we do get major damage from Ike, I'll eat my words, but if we don't, you can' eat my fist.

This weekend. check out my calender.
Hitting up Creekside and Whiskey Bar for Sailor Jerry promos on Saturday.
Get with it and be there.

I love KEXP for this very reason

Rodriguez - Sugar Man

They played it today during Cheryl Waters' mid day show.

If you have yet to tune into Seattle's KEXP, you have been missing out.
It's where the music matters

Listening to: Fats Domino- Ain't That A Shame.

I am a horrible blogger. I admit it.
But in my defense, so what?

Kidding, but seriously, shit has been nuts.

Hitting up spots for promos, Vegas, me moving, and working the full time, and for a couple days, being under the weather.

I'm lucky I still have movement in my fingers.

Stuff has been good, just uber busy.

Vegas was ridiculous but totally a good time.
My seattle friend's visit was awesome too.
Although, hopefully next visit we'll be able to hang more.
I do need to make my way up there soon.

Good shows this week:
Common @ Stubbs 09.11.08
Tokyo Police Club @ Emos 09.12.08
Mogwai @ Stubbs 09.12.08

All good effn shows.

free show update

All good shit and good times to be had!

Last softball game of the season this Wednesday.

I missed last game due to being under the weather, but I'll be there, busting ass this game.

Moved. Got a new pad with a friend. It's a house, so the weiner dog gets room to roam and a friend.

I think I only lost around 200 in vegas. Which is decent compared to the others, but I also didn't gamble as much as they did.

ACL is coming up.
The music lover in me wants to go so badly.
But the person who's hating the Texas heat is not letting my hand purchase a ticket.
But it is motherfucking DAVID BYRNE!!!

Those not in the know, be shamed and go here.

Lead singer of the talking heads. and I think my love for them grew via Bret Easton Ellis books. That band played such an influence on his writing.

Speaking of authors..have you heard about them adapting Lullaby into a film?
Choke is supposed to be release soon. [I love Sam rockwell, btw.]
Everyone is loving chucks writings. He's so demented, it's awesome.
I would love for someone to write the screenplay for The Haunted. That would be so dope.

Ok, that's a valid update for a Monday. Don't you think?
