Mundane Monday

Ok, so not entirely true. I believe there is a science underneath love, sex, and music.
But the 'science' is not what makes it great.

But that is the basis of this blog, wouldn't you agree?
Music = duh
Sex = the crassness in my language that is sometimes NSFW- Sorry, Deep. <3
Love = things I love, including music, movies, news bits, and my life.

So let's start with the basics.

Music.
Mission of Burma has a new one out.
*sigh* /swoon

Per Stereogum

Dinosaur Jr. aren't the only ones releasing stellar material in their post-reunion life: Judging from the sort of off-the-wall quality of Mission Of Burma's ONoffON and The Obliterati, there's no reason to doubt their third reformation collection Sound The Speed The Light (plus, we respect our elders). The band's fourth proper full-length since their formation in the late '70s was recorded by post-Martin Swope member Bob Weston in the band's hometown. Matador has a few details:

[T]he record is a departure from the pinned-needles roar of 2006's The Obliterati. The new album sounds far more spacious and dynamic. It is more or less divided into 4 sets or suites of 3 songs. Each suite explores a set of moods or colors, across the usual dizzying array of lyrical topics, from alcoholism to fleshly concerns.

As far as "fleshly concerns," take a listen to the ecstatic, just-in-time-for-Monday chant of opener "1, 2, 3, Partyy!"

Head to the link to hear the new track.

and then this one. I've seriously got some love for this next one.

"I feel like a prized asshole. No one even mentions my casserole."

THE MOST RETARDED NEWS OF THE DAY [read, yes, i can be politically incorrect]

Perez Hilton Prances Into Warners As Predicted...

Holy effning not sweet jesus.
What the eff is Waner Music doing??

Per Hypebot
What has been common gossip column gossip knowledge for months has
come true. Hollywood gossip whore Perez Hilton has been given his own
record label by Warner Music.

Showing his deep intellectual grasp of the industry, Hilton told Entertainment Weekly,

"I have an ear, which is really important in the music world - to be
able to hear a hit and to be able to know who has a good song or
not…". And it appears that Hilton is part of Warner's promised 360
deal revolution, " I'm more than just an A&R person. I'm also a
marketing person. I'm also a manager."

Perez's dubious claim to A&R fame is the he was an early supporter
of Mika and Lady Gaga. ""I saw the potential in her from the very
beginning before any one else." He'll announce his first signing later
this money. (I wonder where all will be revealed?)

DAMMIT. Seriously, because you thought Lady Gagmyass's fame is valid???
She's infamous due to her faux avant garde look

aka NEVER WEARING PANTS!!!

But this "artistic" take on fashion does NOT validate her music.
It's crap.

Now we get more of this produced-marketing-'artist'-by-the-big-boss-who-writes-the-check.
And I'm not saying he's not going to do the job they are hiring him to do.
Oh he will.
But that is the complete OPPOSITE of the job he needs to do, to save this world from shitty music.

FME [fuck.my.ears]

Ok, now down to what I love.
Our local scene.

This week is Austin Fashion Week, and Ultra8201 has a nice set up of the highlights of the week. Go here now for more info.

Also, what I'm looking forward to Wednesday

And on the flyer itself- it says to RSVP via email to MIAcademyTX@mirrorball.com
Per the facebook/Do512 invites, it says the RSVP on there suffice, but I'm not going to risk going out to Burnet, TX and not being able to get in.
I heart me some ZTrip and every time I see him, I walk away drenched in sweat. So come ready to get the eff down on the dance floor!!!

Then Friday, you can give out some loving to KnuckleRumblers, doing that shit.

Then Saturday

Then Sunday

Woooooooooo. It's going to be D to the O to the P to the EEEEEE!!
Fer serious, though. Be there.

loves. loves.

Video ATTACK

Ok, so tonight, is the ill put together Fader Party at Speakeasy. I'm praying to keep my annoyances to a very low level, but I doubt it. But it is Major Lazer.

So anyway, i've been coming across some new music and I'm going to force it down your throat, with a glass of water on the side. <3

First, Hope Sandoval & The Warm Intentions are coming out with a new album <3
Their first single is Blanchard

MYKB has the track for you here

And if you don't have their first album- Bavarian Fruit Bread- GET IT. kthx.

Now to some Florence + the Machine
Her debut album- Lungs- was release last week. Great shit, my friends. Fan-bloody-tastic.

Now onto Cass McCombs- thanks to Brent brah for opening my eyes to this goodness.

If you couldn't tell already, I've been in the mood for vintage sounding music lately.

and to add to that

I love me some Jenny Lewis.

Lindsey Buckingham is a fucking BAD ASS MOFO!
I loooove that version of the song. The original song itself, meh, but the live version.
So lovely.
And if you ever see me in the road, and I in my car belting out a song with all the force I have, it's safe to assume that this is the song that is playing.
But worry not, my windows are effed in my car, so you won't be subjected to the erroneous sound of my voice. :)

Ok, away from vintage and onto new dope shit.

Seattle Blue Scholars.
I caught them during sxsw and was highly impressed.
KEXP has their Friday night spotlight on them, check it out. And they know their shit. kthx.

and on the PacNW hip hop scene, Common Market

adding to the hip hop, B.o.B aka Bobby Ray's new one

Ahhh, it sounds like summer time.

And for the heavy hitters, Houston Texas brings you, DIRB! and Squincy Jones
I've been listeing to Squincy's DIRB KTRU mix from May 22nd for a week.
LOVE the intro from Miss Gracie Chavez and the rest of the track listing is on it, for me.

So check it out here

Ok, my lovelies. That's all I have. for new ;)

Oh yeah, don't forget to hit me up for our Sailor Jerry promos Saturday and Sunday.
Follow my twitter for real time updates!!

smoke bubbles

I think baby jesus is upset with me.
As I've been sick for the past 3 days.
And being sick in this fucking heat sucks bigger balls than the man with elephantiasis.

So needless to say, I just might have to suck up my pity party and miss out on Kode9 tonight.
I DON'T WANT TO, but momma has jobs and shit, so i'm just going to sit at home, trying to breathe with my fucking thumb up my ass while you lovers are hearing some lovely dubstep FOR FREE.

So to make myself feel better, i've been searching the internets and have found some goodies.

Beck interviews Tom Waits

Per Beck's site;
Irrelevant Topics in a new section featuring conversations between musicians, artists, writers, etc. on various subjects, without promotional pretext or editorial direction. For the first in this series of conversations, the legendary musician and performer, Tom Waits agreed lend an hour of his time to talk about anything and nothing in particular.
Part one here

Guns 'N' bombs are calling it quits

Per their myspace
Sometimes things don’t work out. We – Guns ‘n’ Bombs – have broken up. Filip will continue to make music as Turbotito and with his bands Ima Robot and Djosos Krost and Johnny has a new project called Deathface.
We want to thank the great fans at Womb in Tokyo, the Trashbags crew in Australia, the cool festival crowd in Portugal, the regulars who went to No Culture in LA, everyone at Skylab in Denver, and a lot more people we’re forgetting right now. We’d also like to thank our management, our publicists, and the booking agencies, labels, and groups that we’ve worked with, as without your effort none of our travel and success would’ve happened.

As a “parting gift” here’s a free MP3 of one of the last songs we did, with vocals from our friend Ricardo:
http://www.zshare.net/audio/6173216903ada0ad/

Thank you!
Filip Nikolic aka Turbotito
http://www.myspace.com/turbotito

Johnny Love
http://www.myspace.com/deathfaceforever

and to continue on, call me a typical girl, or call me someone who has a BEATING LIBIDO!!
But this guy....

Ok, so he has a band which just includes Ryan Gosling and Zach Shields, and I know I have a strong feelings about actors turned musicians, but this one stands out.
How, you ask.
His band, Dead Man's Bones, has signed to Anti- [home of DeVotchka, Man Man, Lyrics Born, The Weakerthans, and more] and will be releasing their self titled debut album on October 6th.
Via pitchfork, this is what this man said about the conception of their goth-folk sound.
"You know when you're a kid and you get crayons and papers and just draw whatever you want and it's just a bunch of messy lines, but to you it makes sense, and then they put it on the fridge? From that point on, you're always trying to get back on the fridge, you start drawing things that look like something, like, the more it looks like a horse, the more chance you have of getting it on the fridge. We wanted to get back to that place before we were trying to make the fridge. We wanted to work with people who hadn't been affected in that way yet."

Sounds good to me.

In other new music news, get the latest single from Miss Amanda Blank'

Via her RCRD LBL page
Make It Take It

July 14th PEOPLE- PHILLY COMIN THROUGH....SOOO HAWRD.

Awesome video, but lame MSNBC won't allow embedding, so head here to check out Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Sid and Nancy, oddly.

and in 'god your life sucks' news

Per the Daily Swarm

Add this one to the list of reasons that we love Daft Punk:

When Black Eyed Peas mainman Will.i.am decided to remix “I Got it From My Momma,” the first single off his just-released solo album, with a big, chunky sample of Daft Punk’s “Around the World,” he must of figured the Frenchies would be honored and more than willing to take the royalty money and run. He was so certain, in fact, that he shot an entire video for the remix, replete with Tron-inspired graphics that look oddly similar to Daft Punk’s own awe-inspiring encore outfits from this summer’s Alive 2007 tour. Apparently though, Will.i.am moved faster than the lawyers, who were forced to deliver the message that Daft Punk doesn’t think their music sounds better with him. *ZING!!*

Someone sent us the video this morning, and all we can say is: long live the robots.

Oh Will.I.Am aka glad i'm not you, you suck at making music now.

What happened???

And to Daft Punk.... I  You

So you know whats going on tonight. Have fun kids.

I'm saving my energy for Friday because it will be sick!!
Even though, I'm sketchy on it being at Speakeasy.

But it is Major Lazer and Matt and Kim. <3

Oh yes, Sailor Jerry. We will be out, motherfuckers!!!

Saturday June 11th
10:30-11:30 Chuggin Monkey
11:45-12:45 Soho

Then Sunday, for brunch meet us at Katz Deli for your hangover cure!!
11am-12noon Katz Deli

Then we will be you at Shangri La for their 2nd Sunday Sock hop!!
11:30pm-12:30pm Shangri La

'Merica, I love you soooo hawrd

So I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend.
My holiday was so good, my throat now thinks it's best if i can't swallow and feel pain.
Eff you allergies and throat!!

But besides that, this is how I got to spend my 4th.

Even though i was hungover this entire day, baby jesus looked upon me and said, "Woman, you are 'merican, so you have to have a dance party, with your hungover self."

And so I did. In the name of baby jesus aka miller high life.
woooooooh.

Other than that, my week consisted of The Liberty, getting 1st in the softball league [yeah, Barbarians!!] BBQs, a Neiliyo impromptu performance at a friends pool. Getting a little sloshed and munching on Pluckers, Crash Gallery, typical austin night out with Beauty bar, side bar, creekside, plush, and an after party. Liberty Hill for for a free 4th of July bash that included live music, and one of my favs, ghostland. Late night swimming, digestion of toxins, and spent sunday, at home recovering from it all.

Run on sentences like a mother *BOOP*

This week will be tamer than last, thank goodness, but tonight, celebrations are in order. A dear friend is celebrating her birthday and we are doing it DK Sushi/karaoke style. Whaaaat!

But other than that, I will be at home, being lame and not hungover :D

In case you have balls of steel or gold, there's still tons of shit for you to do this week.
Speaking of, Spoons 3 day concert at Stubbs is this week and in their honor You Ain't No Picasso  posted a bunch of covers done by them.

Check them out here

Also, for more legally free music
Atmosphere is giving away their new EP "Leak At Will"

Get it at the Fifth Element Store.
or find a link, because there's plenty out there [the online store might be dragging a bit because of this one.]

In hilarity and not surprising news, Adam Freeland is calling out the Black Eyed Peas for a track on their new album, claiming he ripped off his Mancry track.

You know, I had some respect for them as a group pre-fergie, but their shit is just that now. shit.

source

And in, this band is awesome news,
Mastodon gets its own Beer

Yeah, not kidding

Gotta love the Germans.

"
So, what better way to liven up the tour bus lethargy than arrive at a venue where someone has brewed a beer specially for you. For Mastodon, it was an extra incentive to reach Sonisphere Germany in time to play after the bus broke down (again). Stephan Michel of Mahr’s Bräu brewery created a limited edition ‘Mastodon Premium Lager’. Just 200 bottles were produced and the band, friends, and yes, even Team Sonisphere, were swallowing them like they were going out of fashion. Which let’s face it, they kind of were…"

Shit, I just remembered, this is on thursday

I guess two nights of rest is all I'm getting. LML- love my life, bitches!!!

Oh, and Sailor Jerry will be out and about this weekend. So keep a heads up for more info on how I can get some 'spirit' inside your mouth.

That totally wasn't meant to be dirty, but 'tevs, I'll take it!!

Happy birthday, July!!

I can't believe how quickly this year is going.
Hopefully the summer heat can move out twice as fast.
Rain, I love you so!!

There's shit to do this weekend, but that's besides the point.

There's shit to do tonight, SON!!

After my softball game, I plan on stopping by the opening of The Liberty
[1618 1/2 E. 6th St. between comal and chicon]

East Austin's newest bar owned by Ex Side Bar KC and his lovely Vickie.

So go and show some love. Plus CFox [now ex side bar] will be pouring you drinks.

Now I thought I'd be sad, at side bar, bidding CFox farewell on his last day, but I've been really excited for Kc to open up this bar, so it all ends well!!

And Friday, be here

for these guys

Crash Gallery will be throwing down!!

This weekend will be nice because I will have a 3day weekend.
Yay for me!!
Not sure what I'll be getting into, but yes, alcohol will  be involved, RESPONSIBLY, OF COURSE, OFFICER!!! :D

Just downloaded and printed my ticket for the Bacardi Live show at Austin Music Hall.
Huzzzah!!

The austin date is now longer on the site, but the date also stops right before the Austin stop, so i'm not quite sure what the deal is. But if it's still on, i'll be ready and completely willing ;)

And I will end my blog with this

Happy Canada DAY!!!!
